Providing continuous authentic and servant-type leadership in our present social climate is proving increasingly complex and difficult. The atmosphere of entitlement seems to be demanding: “tell me what I want to hear.” Make me promises that bring false comfort or hope, regardless if those promises can be kept or not! We here at the Lifechangers office want to express our gratitude and thanksgiving for each of you who are seeking to know the difference.

As an expression of the Kingdom, we have been given a clear mandate to function within an expression of the Third Choice, the Agape Road, bringing life and freedom to people in all places. We are neither free to be a liberal or a conservative but as the best we understand it, to hold the Kingdom choice, a more comprehensive expression of Truth as it is expressed in the Person of Christ.

The stated goal of Christ and the Scripture is freedom, as contrasted to economic, political, religious, or even personal bondage as seen in obsessive-compulsive behavior. Paul states this idea of freedom quite clearly. With passion and intent when he says, “In [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off]” (Galatians 5:1 AMP).

Carefully now and with an increased sense of biblical maturity, allow me to speak to what we know of hidden agendas. Present emphasis on caring for the poor by giving them free everything is an expression of a hidden agenda, which when discovered is actually a manifestation of hate and envy. Discovering and holding to Truth, as it is in the Person of Christ is our ultimate issue. New forms of democratic socialism express a hidden agenda that I saw in many countries when I was doing global missions from the 60’s to 80’s. Many trips behind the Iron Curtain confirmed what I am looking to say.

Many nations have been essentially raped and destroyed by promises that held hidden destruction for the common people. When we carefully examine and apply the Third Choice of the Kingdom, we will discover a phrase coined by Oswald Chambers: “Christ out-socializes the socialist” (Feb 25, My Utmost for His Highest). When we discover the Third Choice, we also discover authentic compassion, energized by Agape that has the power to:
A. Break systemic poverty, a vision only the Kingdom can engage.
B. Cultivate, rather than destroy, human responsibility.
C. Release compassion not concealed in a hidden agenda.
D. Restore God’s Fatherhood to nations that have been deceived.

From the heart of a Papa to a people with whom we have journeyed for many years, may we walk in the revelation of the Third Choice, and bring freedom by a more comprehensive expression of the Person of Christ in the earth.

Agape,
Bob Mumford
